4 Days Cultural Tour And Nature Walk to Rwenzori Mountains

Early in the morning, enjoy a warm, African-inspired breakfast while your Rwenzori hiking guide briefs you on the day ahead. Next, proceed to Ruboni  village  where you will be welcomed with open arms by the local  community. They greet you with their traditional dance known as  “ ekizino”. You might as well get  presented with gifts like  handmade crafts and sometimes tourists are offered local drinks as a sign hospitality. During your village tour, enjoy stunning views of the Rwenzori glaciers and learn about the daily lives of the Bakonjo people At lunch time, join the villagers and get to taste their traditional  foods as you get to listen to mythical   stories from their elders.

In the evening enjoy a campfire while you stare at the clear skies filled with the dazzling luminous light of the stars with sounds of the beautiful voices of the Bakonjo women. Enjoy the soulful Rwenzori cultural songs of the Bakonjo women while the aroma of roasted maize and meat fills the air. You may choose to spend the night at the Ruboni community camp or return to your hotel.

In the evening arrive at Nyabitaba hut and take a rest while you take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape such as the snowy glaciers at the peaks of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. Here, take a break and use your binoculars to spot unique Rwenzori birding species to spot  different unique bird species like bar-tailed trogon, Rwenzori turaco. Also, the Cassin’s honey bird and African hill babbler while you  get to  enjoy the African wilderness dinner  provided at Nyabitaha hut.

Later in the night enjoy a campfire  with gentle distant whispers of the wild as you get to share your experiences and different stories with other tourists. Finally, set up your tent or sleeping bag for a peaceful night in the African wilderness.

Awaken in the morning to the sounds of the wilderness of the  gentle rushing ripples  of Nyabitaba River alongside the frogs croaks at the River banks. Enjoy a bush  breakfast as you get a briefing from your Rwenzori expert guide. Additionally, prepare your Rwenzori trekking gear. Then, begin your descent journey back to Nakalengijja via the Central Circuit trail. Along the way, you will go through the green carpet and head to Kambeho rock shelter. Explore the unique rock outcrops that have a cultural significance to the Bakonjo people.

Here, enjoy a lunch picnic with packed snacks and beverages as you appreciate the scenic views of the surrounding landscape and unique vegetation. Then embark on the journey back to the foothills of Mount Rwenzori. Next, do a Rwenzori hike through the dense misty montane forests  and go through the elevated tree canopies.  Then, adventure into the river crossings of the Nyamwamba River as you go   through the rocky landscape and then arrive at Nakalengijja.  You will then head back to your Rwenzori mountains nearby hotel and prepare for your departure back to Entebbe International airport.
